Thank you for choosing CrossFit Effects (CFX), the best strength and conditioning gym in Australia for your fitness needs. CFX provides clients with comprehensive health and fitness programming. With experience in training athletes, military’s special forces and at home mommy’s, we have developed a fitness program that is second to none. We furnish general and sport specific conditioning programming, injury prevention training, and coaching. Our focus is a core strength and conditioning program that is constantly varied to create a stimulus like no other.
Your Training!
CFX begins your training with setting up goals and starting with the 9 fundamental movements (squat, front squat, over-head squat, press, push press, push jerk, deadlift, sumo-deadlift high pull, med ball clean). Afterwards, we will determine the type of workout most suitable for you based upon your fitness goals and abilities. You should expect that gradual progress in achieving your goals is the normative. Our bodies adjust to physical stresses slowly. It’s important, therefore, that you remain patient during the entire process and expect results over an extended period. The keywords in physical training are patience, consistency, and more patience!
Workouts are conducted at CFX, and last approximately one hour (unless otherwise changed).
The Purpose of this training is to improve not only your performance but also your life! Our research and development over the years in training for not only ourselves, but others has been aimed at getting us and you to our fitness goals, regardless of our potential athletic ability. The training that we have learned is designed to provide you with the proper means to achieve your desired results with these goals.
We are extremely proud of the clients/athletes we have trained over the years and their continued commitment to a healthier, more efficient lifestyle. We consider each of these people including you an athlete! We must stress that as an athlete you are ultimately responsible for your own performance.

The stimulus provided is always varied and the results are dramatic. The atmosphere is one of support and camaraderie to anyone willing to put in the work.
Our techniques are operationally tested and proven to develop the very best in physical capability.
Importantly, we believe that CrossFit trainers should lead by example.
MICK SHAW
Mick is an exceptionally highly motivated and experienced trainer. With ten years service in the Special Forces his expertise and formal qualifications were used in the development of specific conditioning techniques and programming for combat related missions. This included a high level of mental and physical preparation of Special Forces teams and individuals.
Mick continually develops his knowledge and has in the past two years applied scientific principles to strength and conditioning programs including rehabilitation for corporate clients. His experience and understanding of functional conditioning has him working with elite and recreational athletes for optimal performance.
Mick has an innate ability to train and impart knowledge to others easily, coupled with his technical expertise, this holds him in high steed in the fitness and personal training industry.
Mick holds formal qualifications in strength conditioning techniques, including Coach in Olympic Weight Lifting, Strength and Conditioning.

Cam is the newest member of CFXs team of trainers. Having trained at CFX for over a year showing good form, an ability to lift in competition and a caring personality for other members Cam was asked to join the team and help lead their clients to a safer, stronger and healthier way of life. Having been a Personal Trainer for 2 years Cam took on the empirical knowledge gained at the Level 1 Crossfit certification and applied it to all his clients and groups with great success. Furthering his education with the Level 1 Gymnastics Certification has helped Cam improve his awareness of clients strengths and weaknesses and increased his clients results to greater effect.

Alex Richardson
8 years in the Army including 3 in Special Forces, Alex is a very experienced trainer, having worked with people from ages 8-80, from beginners to elite athletes in various gyms around the country. Alex knows how to get the best from people, striving for excellence in the gym and in life.
Matt Waring
Background in Law Enforcement for the past 11 years. During this time I have created fitness programs for injured officers based on medical advice as well as assisting people meet their fitness and weight loss goals, tailoring their activities to suit their needs based on age, mobility and their specific goals.
Began CrossFit in 2008 and found that the principles of CrossFit transfer to everyday life, but specifically to law enforcement.
During this time I have competed in numerous CrossFit Competitions, including the CFX team for the Australian Regional Qualifiers and the Crossfit Games in Carson California in 2010.
